While me and my family went camping this weekend...I saw a bunch of trailheads that I would have just loved to go riding on...I know the area pretty good because we flyfish in Big Meadow, Taylor Creek, Manter Meadow...this area is spectacular for outdoor activities....here is a blurb on the Domeland Wilderness, Sequoia National Forest...

Palo Duro Canyon is about 15 miles south of Amarillo, TX. It's second in size only to the Grand Canyon. It will test you. But it is gorgeous!

They offer rustic camping, RV camping with full hookups, and, camping with horses. I believe they offer hookups while camping with horses, too.

Here's the website: http://www.palodurocanyon.com/

For any others who might be up this way. I hear that the Capitol forest has a great trail system.

There's also the Pilchuck Tree Farm by Snohomish/Monroe and thier tree farm near Arlington as well.

While I haven't been on these trails, I have friends who have and they love them.

The Back Country Horseman Group up here does regular poker rides and has maps of most of the trail systems. (Can't find the link, but I will post it when I locate it).

This is something fun to do while out trail riding. It's starting to catch on in most areas. I have a friend who's doing this in the way NW part of WA and another who's doing it in the S part of WA.

This fall we went camping with the horses at Mojave River Forks Regional Park. The trails were nice with a stream/riverbed to ride through and over. It was great fun.

The site has a large stone horse watering hole at shoulder height (to the horses) for drinking and whatever was in the water, the horses, in general couldn't get enough of it, not sure if it was because it was a constantly running water hole or if there were minerals in the water or what, but they played in it all the time. ...
