| I was recently blessed with a Half-Arabian Hunter Pleasure mare that I found on Craigslist of all places... I grew up in love with horses, but dad was in the Air Force and I could never really afford to have a show horse. In my late teens, an Aunt got involved in Saddlebreds so I got to borrow old Saddlebred and Arab school horses to show for fun. Then I got married and working as a police dispatcher, I still couldn't afford a show horse. So, I showed dogs for 20 years instead, ending 2007 having owned and shown the #5 Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier in the country. He garned me a trip to Westminster and the AKC National Show. I gave up showing for a pet horse, who decided to buck me off. I sold him and found my 1/2 Arabian, Blaze on Craigslist.Blaze was a Junior Horse in 2006 and was Region 14 Champion Hunter Pleasure Junior Horse. She was Champion in another Region, Top 3 in a third, Top Ten at Scottsdale and top ten on 2 of 3 judges cards at the nationals. She then changed hands and was neglected/ignored until I found her. Now, she's in my backyard, loved as a pet, and we are training together to someday show together.I need help with training tips, stupid basic show questions (like, how long is the bridle pat supposed to be?), where do I find local shows, and what do I need to take with me to shows. I need serious assistance, but am excited!I found the ammy army in the April 2009 Arabian Horse Times that was given to me. What a great gift it will turn out to be! |

| Welcome! Good to have another Texan aboard. Hopefully we'll get to see you at some shows down here. I"m new to this Region, coming from Reg 16. Any help, this is the place to find it, and there isn't a more supportive group of people to show with! Kristen |
