Do we have any reiners on here yet?

I've started to learn, but it's hard to find a trainer who has anything to teach on around here. I'm not ready to buy one just yet.

Yes, I saw the training article there. I was just hoping to locate some enthusiasts on here.

I like the red horse in your photo. Tell me about him/her.

I have trained and shown reining...my current horse is not currently on that track, but it is a bit like dressage (which I have trained and shown for as well) in that the basic principles of it are skills that a well broke horse ought to be able to preform - at least on a rudimentary level. The showring reining is a bit more styized than what you would normally ask your horse to do "around the house" but the basics........ROUND controlled circles, traveling in a STRAIGHT line, responsiveness off of the leg and weight for speed and direction, controlled, balanced stops....are all things that a well schooled horse should be able to do.

I am in Ohio...showed in Texas, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky....I haven't shown in several years now. Last competed in reining on a little chestnut mare who was either super good..........or having an all mare day....nothing in between. Smile

LOL... an all mare day! Had a few of those in the ring too when I showed Hackneys. Lots of Arab people in OH aren't there? Wish we had more in central KY.
