Darn the luck Empty
PostSubject: Darn the luck   Darn the luck EmptyTue Nov 09, 2010 6:29 pm

My main show horse, Cisco, managed to break his coffin bone a week ago.

And we had such big plans for next year! The past two years he's been doing so well (four Regional Reserve Championships [two in hunter hack and two in SHUS] and one Regional Top 5 [in SHUS]). This year he's ranked 3rd in Arabian Specialty Horse and 5th in Arabian Sport Horse in the USEF Horse of the Year awards for Region 9. Next year we were planning on hitting Scottsdale, Green Country, Region IX Sport Horse, and Nationals. Now.... Who knows.

He's got at least 6 months off. So Scottsdale and Green Country are out for sure. Will have to see how he heals otherwise. Could be off for a whole year. He might not ever be sound enough to jump again. Sad Hoping he at least goes sound enough to do SHUS again in the future.

Darn the luck.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear about poor Cisco. Coffin bones are funny things and sometimes it just takes the littlest thing, hitting just right and there it goes....many seem to heal well though, it just takes a lot of time. I know that it is a let down when you have worked so hard and planned for a specific goal. Just give him a big hug for being who he is (and maybe an extra carrot) - he still loves you....and we'll all keep our fingers crossed for a good recovery for Cisco.

I am SO sorry -- I know how frustrating it is when you're doing so well and all of a sudden, poof, it's gone. I really hope you can overcome this and he has a speedy recovery. How terrible.

I am sooo sorry to hear this. What a disappointment, as well as a concern!

Best wishes to you two for as speedy a recovery as possible!
