| GARRETT TRAINING CONCEPTS will be attending the Pacific Slopes Championships. It is an ammy friendly barn and if ever you need help, we will give you a hand. | |

| I will be attending under my trainer's barn (Cari Thompson), with my one and only Addicted To Luv. But although I am showing with my trainer, I still wish to support the Army ! So if we have some members show up at Slopes, I'd be more than happy to stand in and help out with whatever is needed. | |

| I have decided to present TF SIR PRIZE at Slopes this year. Jury is still out on SIRPREMACY DP but we shall see. If there are no other Ammy Army members attending, I plan on contacting a friend's barn and showing out of theirs. Let me know. | |

| Due to a lack of interest on the part of fellow Army members, I will be stalling with Jade Creek Arabians for the Pacific Slopes Championships. I will still wear the Cammy though;) | |

| I hear today is supposed to be broiling hot, but that it will cool down over the weekend. The fire is a ways away, but has destroyed homes and injured firefighters | |

| Ok, just heard that the fire is really tearing closer to the show grounds. Anyone know what is going on at the show? Have they canceled it and asked everyone to leave? Del, if you are able, give us an update cause we're worried about all you guys.

| We showed once in a one horse class. I think the smoke had him a bit over jazzed. Refused to trot and was VERY figgety on the stand up. Heading home was not a tragedy except that we lost the opportunity to qualify for nationals since Slopes was cancelled. | |

| I saw Cari Thompson's Mom yesterday and she told me that they were up for 35 hours with everything that went on. Cari has a 1 1/2 month old son..... I'm just glad everyone got out safe. I read on another board that the fairgrounds were safe, but the smoke and ash was too bad to work in and they needed the fairgrounds for staging and evacuated animals. | |

There is discussion that those involved with both region 2 and the AHASFV club, will be having a meeting with AHA regarding if those who did show in classes on Thursday, should be given automatic qualification for region 2 and possibly Nationals. I'd imagine those of us who had horses entered will be receiving a letter at some point. I'm not sure on all of the details at this point however, so we'll see what happens. Just have to keep our fingers crossed from the way it sounds. On another note, I wonder if there is any hope for us gaining a refund on our Pacific Slopes Championship classes. Since really, that portion of the show was cancelled before it even started...never made it past the AHASFV portion. As for how the show went for me, well Legs was nothing short of a delight to show on Thursday. Our afternoon AOTR class was by far the best ride I've ever had at a show -- on any horse. This was also our first show with our new trainer Cari Thompson, and without a doubt the way she handled the fire/evacuating raised my respect for her leaps and bounds. Additionally prior to all of the chaos, I think we had a lot of fun! Not only is Cari wonderful, but the clients from CTT are very "hands on". I've been in a number of training barns (both on the Arabian circuit and the open circuit) and never before have I seen a group of clients so interested in helping each other out, taking care of their horses, etc. I should add I've also never seen a trainer so supportive of clients "doing their own thing" as Cari is! Without a doubt, it's a very "ammy friendly" environment. So minus the chaos that occoured some time around midnight, Slopes went well for us. The only real bummer is that I was unable to qualify for region 2. However, that's what the preshow is for I suppose! | |
