| Hey Del, Can we have a "Goals" section? My thought being a place where people could post thier goals for the month, year, life, whatever. Putting it in writing for everyone to see sure hleps keep me motivated! Plus people will have a better idea of what everone else intends to do (just make it through oen A show without having a heart attack vs. winning at nationals). Just a thought! | |

| Ok, this is a BIG goal for me. My goal is to have Psymin galloping out by the start of the summer. I just rode him again tonight for the first time in almost 2 months. He did very well...until the slack of my mecate reins came undone and was "following" him. Thankfully Ken picked up the slack before Psymin got too scared and took off, never to outrun the line! I hope to get him out of the arena and onto the trails in the next couple weeks. Then I would like to take him offsite for a ride with older, more experienced horses. | |

| Maybe putting it in writing WILL keep me motivated....my goal for this year is to have shown my precious girl, Prada, on my own. It's SOO nerve racking! I get nervous for handlers just watching classes! I'll get my nerves under control some day... | |

| Well, I guess mine could be to train and show prep one of the young mares that I've recently picked up, and take a swing at this again myself. My avatar horse, Breakdansk, is my last remaining relic of my earlier showing days, and he's 25 now. | |

| My goal is to continue showing *Noble Lord in amateur classes and to have him going under saddle for the 2010 show year. Right now we're just getting to know how each other works and bonding at the show grounds. He was an angel at Scottsdale so we are on the right path! | |

| Well I would love for everyone to get to know me better and since I am new here I thought this would be a great place to start! My first goal is to get my girl out to a few shows, hopefully entering her in a class BUT making it the most pleasant thing for her because I am hoping that we will being doing it for years to come! After I get back into the Arab world, and have some shows under my belt again (I showed Arabs almost ten years ago) I would love to become an AHA mentor in my area. I have looked and there are not any in CT that specialize in the Arab sport horse. The lifelong goal is to educate people about the Arabian horse, empasizing that they really are an amazing family horse. If I can convert one person, then they can convert one person, so on and so forth. I am currently stabled at a mostly QH farm and have been told by both barn managers that they would rather lead my yearling filly out and handle her then all of the other horses in the barn. (BIG COMPLIMENT) TJ also really seems to love children and will completely ignore me when they are around, sniffing their heads, messing up their hair and what not! So I am hoping that as I proceed with her training and as she matures as a horse that she will be my foundation for this goal! I would love any comments/tips that anyone may have on any of these! I am always willing to learn! Thanks and I can not wait to get to know everyone! Shana Grace Quinn | |

| Gosh Shana. It's really too bad you're not closer! Our older filly pasture is where we take visitors. You literally get mobbed out there! They fight over who will get your attention! Sounds like it must run in the family! | |

| I guess I should have shared my goals here... I have so many. It's really hard with the economy the way it is. We are a small breeder. I also do all our handling and the majority of our training, with the help of my dressage trainer/coach/whip cracker Stacie Moyle. She keeps me in line and helps both in lessons and online. I'm not a horse trainer. I have just been blessed with good horses I guess in the training I've done, even starting a few myself. So, for goals: I would like to be able to breed more outside mares to our fantastic (IMO) stallions Akdar Brins and MF Khafaz Fahim. I would also like to be able to keep breeding our own foals and sell them to great homes like our darling Anglo TJ went to. Gotta love Shana! I would really like to learn more of the training end of what I do to be more effective with what I've already been doing. and...I would really like to get our Jr stud, MF Khafaz Fahim qualified to show at our regional SH championships, regular regionals for HP AND CDS championships. Wow! That seems like a huge task! We'll see how it goes. I'm taking one ride and one show at a time with Jr right now. He's still young and I'm still learning to be a better rider. Thanks to Stacie, I have learned a lot! | |

| My major goals right now are to get Cisco in the ring under sidesaddle and to keep improving his comfort level in the show ring under hunter. Also to see about getting him to actually *enjoy* SHIH. He suffers through it for me, but I'd like for him to somewhat enjoy what we're doing--not to mention the fact that he looks more attractive when he's happy! And to survive our first Sport Horse Regionals! For my 'new' mare, Sasha, to keep on with getting her started under saddle...and to get her safely in foal this year and to term. Eventually, my goal is to get Cisco qualifed for Nationals in sidesaddle (whether we actually go or not) and to get up the nerve to tackle a Training Level dressage test with him (SCARY!!!!). | |

| Cache, I would love to learn sidesaddle in the future....is it something that is extremely difficult?? Is it easier to ride a horse that is trained? I used to goof off on my old show horse, and when we were in a western saddle, I would swing my leg over the horn and pretend I was riding side saddle(he was shown in it by his first owner). We had a lot of fun doing that, plus he was extremely smooth, so I think that helped! I think back to some of the stuff I used to do when I was little and feel really lucky I did not get hurt! LOL! Thanks for any info you can give me, maybe you should PM, if you would like bc I seem to keep digressing from what the topis is about and do not want anyone to get mad! Goodluck attaining your goals!!! I wish you the best of luck! | |

Not difficult at all! I promise. It just looks impressive. It is easier to ride a horse that's well trained in something (that doesn't have to be sidesaddle)--a well trained horse with a good attitude can pick up sidesaddle VERY quickly. - Quote :

Isn't that true of us all?! I should have had so many more injuries when I was a kid! I had no fear and neither did my horse--not a very safe combination! I'll certainly PM you with sidesaddle info! | |
