| OK, so my mom has been asking me and asking me and asking me to join and it is not that I didn't want to.....it has been trying to sneak it around the boss at work to join!! He is off this week on a "work related field trip" ;so here I am!!!!!! My name is Gen and I have been showing Arabs pretty much my whole life. My first horse was an Arab, and not that I have a prejudgment of other breeds....I just prefer my Arabs, LOL I have a quite a few ( I should say a zoo ) ranging in age 11 to 27. I have a Hussar Granddaughter, a Unquestionablyhot son, a very prissy and old National Show horse a very silly and very tiny Araloosa, Dreamazon ++ Great Grandson, and then there is my star *** my son of AA Apollo Bey; DM Mopollo Bey. ***SIGH *** everyone dislikes Mo. Especially my mom. HAHAHAHA. ( I am betting once she reads this, a comment will arise ) I have a small operation. Nothing perfessional any longer. I do this for fun now. No trainers, just me and my 7 year old.....and my very, very, very, new to this fiance'. Who is trying hard.....but made a silly mistake and bought a Percheron. Hmmmmm.....I can't quite figure out how that fit in the barn......he is next to the tiny Araloosa Ringo...don't ask. But we all have fun here, and love our showing. I ride Hunter, Country EP, shown Costume....once on my prissy old man. I ride WP and I am an advanced Reiner, LOL. I just recently added Halter to my showing at Regional Level. Ummm.....interesting. I got to show with Greg Gallun!! It was cool! Anyways, that is a short blip of me. Hello!!! I look forward to reading more and getting some help......I am going to need with what I am going to post in on the EP page....I have a typical Huckbey jerk on my hands! LOL LORD HELP ME!!!! SOMEONE??? ANYONE???? Gen~ | |

| From what I've heard, the haltering issue is under control. The riding started out OK, now he's figured some things out and is locking up on her, but she'll just keep working with him until he gets over the temper tantrum issue and moves forward. He's a tough guy and has learned to challenge you with new things. Eventually, though, he starts to cooperate and will try. Just takes convincing sometimes. I'll let Gen tell you more about him cause she's the one that has to deal with him!LOL

| Hey Austin, and of course Mom. Well, after I decided I had well.... ENOUGH of being dragged down the middle of my barn, then dragged all the way out of the barn and to the trees behind my cross ties and wash rack I decided to do it the old fashioned way, as Austin you had suggested, and took one for the team. HAHAHAHA. I got him in to the round pen, and instead of just haltering him and getting after him, I saddled him up. I got him all under gear, and had my son ride Dee around ( which is the passing out horse in my mom's avatar ) He thought a couple of times he was going to die....I am sure. He found out that it is harder to run in to things with full gear on, and that I wear one big pair of boots!!! He has deicided that acting like a jerk is well, not fun. So he has gotten the striking and running backwards out of his system. Let me remind people though, he is BIG time whip trained, and has this thing about the halter whip now. He will strike at it, and aims too. He shows halter like a pro, but he is VERY agressive. I don't like to use the whip, nor do I use ( even if wanting to ) a bigger STICK. As of now, it is true....he is figuring out other ways to mess with me on ridding and working. It is not being a jerk. He is just a typical lazy stallion. Never had to earn any keep, and just thinks now he can get away with it. He will get it...I refuse to give up on him. He is stubborn, and so am I. I think that is why we match so well!!!! Right mom????? Thank you Austin, the advice was awseome. I knew it needed to be done, it was just debating on when and how tough I thought I needed to be. HAHAHAHAHA!!! | |
