PostSubject: Region 4 Ammys, please stand up?   Region 4 Ammys, please stand up? EmptySun Sep 13, 2009 2:51 pm

Are there any Region 4 Ammys who would like to band together starting now, with an eye toward getting something done in 2010? I know this has been a tough year for a lot of people, compounded by the fact that AA was so new that a lot of people still don't know anything about it, but I think we really need to meet each other and see who wants to hit the shows next year. In fact, even if you don't particularly care about showing, those who do could still use your encouragement and moral support. All I'm proposing at the moment is for us to just meet and get to know one another. This can easily be done by gathering either at someone's home, or picking a coffee shop, restaurant or pie house that's central to any particular area and meeting there. If we don't start making our plans now, next year will be just like this year was, with not too many of us getting out and doing anything. Replies? Remarks? Please feel free to sound off!

That sounds great! I dont know if I'll be able to afford to show much but I'd definitely love to come out and cheer people on! I do work on the weekends most of the time but if we pick a date for everyone to meet, I can take the day off. Count me in!

Hey there, hi there!

At the moment, I'm trying to determine how much interest we have here in our region, and I would love to organize some meet and greets. I've also sent a number of emails to various personal friends, urging them to check out this site and join up. If you have any friends or contacts with Arabians or half Arabians, please consider doing likewise. We need to actively recruit new people and the more, the better. As I recall, you're down around Eugene, right? So you and your friends would most likely prefer to meet somewhere in that area. If you can help out in your area by stirring up some interest, I can probably get one or two from my area to accompany me to your area, and we can start making some plans. I'll be watching this thread for further communications from you. Let's see what we can get done for this next year ... Region 4 Ammys, please stand up? Icon_bounce

You Go, Girl! Get them to join up here if you can. If there are Arabian-owning kids in that 4-H group of yours, get them in, too - there's a youth section here, and the kids need our support. I frankly can't see why anyone wouldn't jump in here, if for no other reason than the comeraderie that exists here. Doesn't matter what part of the country (or world) you are from, there are people here who are willing to give their best suggestions and advice. So there's no good reason to Region 4 Ammys, please stand up? Sleep .

While I'm here - does anyone know what happened to Silverdust? She started out with great enthusiasm, but hasn't been here since late February. Is she still out there?

Is anyone coming to Eugene for the Fall Classic horse show on the 3rd and 4th of October? I'd love to have lunch and watch classes together if you are...

I'll talk to Ellie and see if she and her granddaughter would like to come and watch. The granddaughter is sort of a beginner rider, but they went to State Fair last week to watch some classes, and she's now thinking she might like to start showing. I'll post back here to confirm unless Ellie gets back here first.

Prada, can you direct us to a website that has the class lists? I just went to Region 4 website and found nothing. Was curious what classes would be running each day -

Scratch that, Prada - I found it. Anyone else who wants to go, you can find the premium list at http://www.oregonhorsecenter.com/pdf/October2009/ORClassic.09premium.pdf . Hopefully we can meet with a number of you there. Please leave your reply here in this thread so we can coordinate.

We had a great time, too. Thank YOU for meeting with us! Let's continue to promote AA and see if we can get a regiment together in time for next show season. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact either one of us. I PMed you with the contact information for your local regional group, so join up when you get a chance and get to know your local people. They will be good sources of information for you, too.

I'm HERE!!! I got your pm Darci, thank you! I am still here, I have just had a lot of personal stuff going on for the last several months: we moved the farm in March, and just as we were finally getting settled, we got an awesome offer, and so moved the whole shebang again in August! And let me tell you--without all the other stuff we've had going on, the two moves were horrendous! Good Lord I never want to move again for as long as I live!

Anyway, I am back, and will check in here as I can--I have an extremely difficult time reading this light text on the dark screen (it makes me squinty and cross-eyed!), so I get lazy and just don't! I wish I could change the "skin" on this thing...

and I do plan on showing at least one horse next year, if I can afford it. (I just saw that Region 4 championships have been moved to Nampa, ID for 2010--ARRGH!!!!! WHAT NEXT???!!!!!) So, I'd love to meet up with everyone!

Is anyone planning on any schooling shows this winter? My silly stallion needs to get out and see the world, so I'll need somebody's coat to hide behind Region 4 Ammys, please stand up? Icon_redfacewhen he embarrasses the heck out of me hollering to everyone at his first "big" event! Region 4 Ammys, please stand up? Icon_biggrin And, I'll also have my baby who's getting started under saddle just now...

Understood about the moving and being out of touch. I had tried to locate you a couple of times, and when I didn't hear back previously, I thought that perhaps something had come up, or you had lost interest in the concept. That last pm I sent you was going to be my last attempt at finding you, because I didn't want to intrude further if you just weren't interested anymore. So I'm happy to hear from you!

Closest series of schoolers to you would probably by Mt. Hood Equestrian Center - or whatever they call it now - at Boring. I've a friend who has granddaughters who are sort of wanting to get into showing, so maybe we can meet at some of those shows. Don't worry about your stallion being loud, don't ever let that embarrass you or keep you at home from a show. It's part of the process of them growing up and 'getting their brains'. Everyone with a stallion goes thru it at one time or another.

Hey Darci,
Wow, that's wierd-I never got any e-mails or pm's, was that through here? I don't even remember how to check them here, but I never got any e-mail notices either. Oh well, glad I got the pm through abn! I just sort of spaced it all, you know, back burner. I am hoping life is calm seas from here on out (ha ha, yah, right?) but definitely plan to devote more time to my horses, and get out there and show at least my stallion if nobody else. I believe there are a couple open or schooling shows at the equestrian center through the winter, including some dressage shows (which I have decided to try out!). And: YIIIIPPPEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Arabians in Motion is having a 3 or 4 day show there in April (not sure I understand if it is 4 days, or just 3 with an early haul-in day on MHEEC's calendar). But, I will definitely be going to that--how can I not when it's 15 minutes down the road? I'm setting goals for myself, and that is my first big one (other than a couple schooling shows, lessons, and LOTS of hauling to new locations over the winter). I am SO excited!!!!
So, I sure hope some of us can meet over the winter to do some schooling or open shows, that would be excellent!
Rochelle

Ah, okay, so I just realized I don't even have a signature (ha, what's that girl's name, anyway?!) so I was looking for the stuff to change that, and saw the red message sign, sure enough I see your pm from oh, 7 months ago! oops... Region 4 Ammys, please stand up? Icon_redface

Hi guys! I just wanted to touch base with everyone and let you know we're working our butts off to be ready to show in the big kid classes with you guys next year! Anyone have any plans to go to the Rally in the Valley here in Eugene in March? Thats one of our goals, granted I can rat hole enough money in the mean time.

Ellie brought a gelding down to me last week to work on. He's already rideable, but needs headset, and to learn to gear down his trot to a nice Western jog. Her intent is for him to be a walk/jog mount for one of her granddaughters next year. Jeepers, he's neat to work with. So yes, we're working to get ready not only for next year's A shows, but some of the schoolers in the area this winter, too.
