| I was thinking about these... I think it's a great idea for the Ammy Army to put together our own Community shows and invite others to participate. What better way to promote showing the AA way than to go ahead and make our own shows? I looked at that list of shows, and I'd love to see some shows listed with the words "Ammy Army" included in the title! Let's do it! | |

I hosted a POA show at my facility several years ago. It's not hard to do, but you need an arena, either indoor or outdoor. If outdoor, you need cooperative weather. And some kind of insurance to protect you. There are no community shows in Oregon, either. There were a couple the first year that AHA came out with the idea, but they didn't do it again the following year. I wonder about attendance being the reason for that. Could possibly get around that if you can offer classes for non-Arabians - kind of like an open show, with Arabian classes. I've been thinking about it for this area, and I like the idea of an AA group getting it together. Anyone in this area who'd be interested in helping out?, asked the little red hen.

| Well I dont own my own stables yet. (someday) But I am going to talk to the President of my Local Club(I'll be sure to let him know about AMMY ARMY). He doesn't live that far away and hosts the Empire State Arabian Horse Show in May. I board at an old arabian breeding farm owned by George and the late Patty Harris. I guess Tornado Talisman used to stand at stud there.(My mare has his old stall and pasture) I found out because they have old pictures of different horses there including Tornado Talisman. But hopefully I can get more info soon. Let ya'll know. | |

No, I'm talking like the glutton for punishment that my Mother always said I am. But seriously, I have the indoor arena, and the outdoor arena. Literally acres of parking - all I have to do is take down some temporary fence. I haven't looked at the AHA site, so I don't know how much advance notice they require. Would also have to look at Reg. 4 and 5 for their show schedule, so there wouldn't be any conflicts. But before I get too involved, I think I will wait to see if anyone else is interested. As I said previously, lack of interest may be why Oregon didn't have any community shows the second year. We'll see ...

| Hi all new here.
All I can say I love the ACS shows here in Michigan. I ride in the East Michigan Arabian Association shows. All I can say our turn out is big from what I see and here talking to people. Alot have left Class A to come here because there is actual competetion. And many say our horses are of better quality than the class A crowd.
Our ACS shows are 3 days long with over 100 different classes. Uber affordable, $8 regular classes, $10 for Dressage, speciality(such as jumping liberty etc), and gymkana. Basically something for everyone. With a main ring judge and a dressage judge. And held at good venues (the ones usually used for Class A shows).
If your not to far I would highly recommend these shows. www.emaa.org
I know I would love to get a group to set up with. As I have my single Arab that shows.

| Lovemycrabbet, Are you going to the ACS at Corunna? If you want to stall with me and a friend of mine (also an ammy), and possibly my aunt just let me know. We can all split a tackroom. I'll have one horse, and maybe my yearling if I work with him some before then! | |

| Nothing in Western Missouri or Eastern Kansas either. I have heard it wasn't profitable for the horse club - so they don't offer it. It's a shame! | |

| FWIW, a group in KS is working on putting together a Kansas Arabian Sport Horse Association. And considering running an ACS Sport Horse show (SHIH, SHUS, dressage, HH, H/J, and fun classes with clinics in the evening). Still in the early stages, but might be something in the future. | |

| The community shows we put on are sponsored by AHA but we make it an open show for all breeds so we can get the numbers we need. We also designate some classes as Arabian only classes. They are fun to put on and I advertise them as a family type show. We also do our own concession and get local sponsors to help fund the show. If you get creative you can put on a great show for very little cost. This weekend I will attempt to ride Dressage on my Hunter horse it is all just for fun though. | |

This is something we've considered here. Our ACS shows are well attended but weren't the first year or so, after that they started to roll. They are open shows and have all breeds with an emphasis in Arabian classes (60% Arab classes) and wonder of wonders, alot of the all breed people that started coming are now bringing.. ready for this?... ARABIANS to come and show! I love the ACS shows here, I hope our club continues to have them. If not I suppose I'll knuckle down and host one myself. Some things you typically need to get a show going: Arena available Parking Volunteers (as many as you can get) Ribbons Prize list Class Sheet Entry Forms and I believe AHA requires insurance as you are affiliated with them. Without having to rent an arena you are looking probably at $300-$500 to get one started and we charge $5 a class to enter. There is a $5 reporting fee to AHA to have the points reported for the purebreds and the horses need a copy of their registration paperwork. Pros are discouraged from showing at these shows. They are truly geared towards ammies and youth.
