Hello from Texas :) Empty
PostSubject: Hello from Texas :)   Hello from Texas :) EmptyFri Jul 31, 2009 4:54 pm

Hello everybody! My name is Andrea. I'm in Texas, in Region 7 but bordering Region 8. I read about the Ammy Army in the past few AHT magazines and have been thinking about joining but have not gotten around to it. I recently started talking to Monique, and her and Jerome sent me Very Happy

I have 3 PB Arabs and 1 HA. I actually have 7 horses, the other 3 are Paints.
My Half-Arab is Mr Blackberry Bey("Freedom"), a 6 year old, 15.1hh, Grey and White Tovero Arabian/Paint gelding. He's out of my (now)14 year old, 14.2hh, Grey Arabian mare - Raffon Berry Bey("Jewell").
My other PB's are newer to the herd, purchased March 1st, 2009. A 9 year old Bay 15.2hh Magnum Psyche daughter( x SX Saladin daughter), Magnum LuvSong TW("Bella") and her May 2008, currently 14.1hh, Bay MPA Giovanni stud colt, LLN Di Mag Gio("JD").

I'm 17 years old and breeding and showing Arabians has been my dream since I was 9 and got my first horse, and first Arabian, Jewell. She has made me a forever fan of this incredible breed. My parents are very supportive and I have turned my mom over from Paint fanatic to Arabian fanatic! She's always loved them, but now she is as head-over-heels addicted as I am!
As supportive as they are, this is a dream I am chasing for myself and I do not expect, and never have expected, them to give me everything and pay for everything I want. Good things come to those who wait..and those who work hard! I am a Senior now in High School and do online courses at Ashworth University. Because I don't have to go to a school, I hold down a full time job to pay for my horses. I held myself responsible for paying for my Magnum mare and Giovanni colt and did so happily.
I am currently setting aside money and if all goes as planned, then next year I will be looking to purchase another mare and breed both her, Bella and Jewell(Jewell probably via embryo transfer) for 2011 foals.

I am really, really looking forward to going to Scottsdale next year, and I am so happy to be a part of the Ammy Army!!

I know where you are, imagine that! I drove from Marshall (almost Shreveport) all the way to Cliff, New Mexico (about 180 miles northwest of El Paso) to pick up my horse trailer that I purchased through ebay.

Very desert, but very beautiful area!

Nice to have you with us, maybe we'll be able to meet up at one of the shows between here and there!

Haven't made it that far south in TX yet. Have driven HWY 10 (?) from El Paso to San Antonio (my current horse came from El Paso Smile ), but not any further south than that. El Paso was quite dry and deserty, my poor horse didn't know what to do when he saw grass--I imagine it's the same way in your area?

I've been to your town too Jennifer! I showed dogs there one year. We drove in and it was cold, clear and windy, but overnight the snow was dumped on us! I moved away from Colorado to get away from the cold! Nice show, but hated the snow!

I think I've been just about everywhere now, in my 20 years of showing dogs... This is my show dog Chandon (AKC/CKC/INTL Champion Acacia NewZew Chandon. He was #5 Soft Coated Wheaten in the Nation for 2007, with me showing him!

How wild, I went to college at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, TX so know exactly where that is for two semesters. Anyways, cool! Another Texan into Arabs. Where can you possibly go wrong from there? I couldn't stick being out there so fled back to the gulf coast but have to say it is beautiful out your way.
