New Arabian owner!

Hey everyone. I've just acquired my first Arab. Her call name is Kaycee and she's a 6 month old filly that I will be training for yearling halter in the spring. I'm normally part of the "gaited" crowd, so training an Arabian is new to me. My business partner, an Arabian and Friesian breeder here in Georgia, suggested I join this site to watch and learn. I have been told I can learn all I need to know here. I am looking forward to it!

Let the learning begin....

Welcome! Where in GA are you? MY former trainer, who was an arab trainer, is in GA and if you ever needed help with your horse or lessons, she goes to farms out there to work with you and your horse. I miss having her readily available, and if you need someone at all she would be a great resource! Let me know if I can pass anything on to you!

Thank you! Although I am a trainer myself, I am new to this halter-class thing and a "Plan B" would be welcome. Please do forward her information to me! I appreciate it.

PS. I am in Putnam County (Middle Georgia) around halfway between Atlanta and Augusta.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. We've had rain here for the past week and I'm hoping it will let up next week some time so I can work with Kaycee. I am looking forward to implementing what I've learned here. So far, it has mirrored the NH training I already do so it's not been as much of a stretch as I had thought. She and I came a long way last week despite the little time I got to work with her in between the rain. I was finally able to touch her from tip to toe, and even cleaned between her little ninnies and got some fly spray on her. What a challenge she is!! Next week I have GOT to get those feet picked up so they can be trimmed. She looks like an elf with those long toes! The breeder we got her from is overwhelmed with the number of horses she has. She does not have time to properly take care of them all, and this baby was virtually untouched. I understand the situation she was in, but also feel it is negligent to breed animals you cannot either take care of properly, nor socialize properly. That's all I'm going to say about that. Going outside now while the rain has slacked off! Have a great Sunday, everyone!
