Hello,
My name is Michaelle, and I would like to say hello to all who participate here. I have been an amateur exhibitor for many years, and have just recently hung my shingle out as a trainer. I know haw hard it is to do all the work myself, but it is so worth it.

Glad to hear you will be showing your mare in halter this year. Can you tell me a bit about her (height, weight, age), and post a picture. Please don't hesitate to ask me anything about training or preparation. I am always glad to share the knowledge others have been kind enough to share with me.

Rana's show name is Dawns Dee Lite at least till I change it. I've been a bad arab owner, I havent registered her in my name yet. She's 14.2 hands about 850lbs +, just turned 14yrs old on June 02,2009. Rana does have a tiny scar under her left eye. I will have pictures of it. I mostly unsure on what halter to get Rana and what attire for myself to wear. As far as training my girl I need a little help getting her head up and out. I can get her set up sort of. Other than that I have no idea what to do for conditioning. I cant ride for six months and I have been lunging her and taking walks out on trails. Well I better not bore you with all this. THanks for joining the Ammy Army.

She is lovely. My first reccomendation is lots of groceries. We tend to like our mares on the plump side, and I can see her ribs, so feed ,feed feed. I like rice bran for added fat, and a senior type of grain will add extra calories and fat. Don.t be afraid if se gets a little hot at first. That just means she will have the energy for time in the round pen or on the lunge line. She should be gradually worked up to 15 minutes of cantering. That can take as much as a month to two months to build up to that, depending on the condition you start with. First training priority is always WHOA. With you facing her, as her to stop when her right hind foot is leaving the ground. You stop and say whoa, and then she will put it down with the right foot forward.
Look on e-bay for arab halters. Or go to Schneiders.com. Ladies always look good in black dress slacks, a long sleve blouse that is comfortable to raise your arms over your head, and black shoes you can run in without them falling off (I wear flat black paddock boots).
Don't worry abour up and out yet, as that is one of the last cues to train. Write me when she is stopping well, and I'll give you the next step

OK I will do thanks. As far as the groceries goes I increased to 3 flakes and 1 quart in the AM and PM. She is also currently out in pasture 24/7 that has nice grass. I will add rice bran and the senoir feed. She's getting fatter as I have been really dizzy trying to lounge her. As for the training WHOA when the right hind is moving forward I will work on that asap. Thanks!
